As part of the investigations carried out to clarify the incident, on the 14th, citizen Marcos Isaías Diéguez Torres, 21 years old, unemployed, with no criminal record and resident on Calle 24 s/n, in the town of Maniabón, was arrested as a suspect. , indicated the MININT through a note shared by the Las Tunas Newspaper.
“During the interrogation process, the defendant confessed his authorship and the modus operandi,” said MININT, although it did not offer further details.
However, as the collaborator of CubaNet, Alberto Méndez Castelló, a resident of Puerto Padre, on Sunday morning the boy went out with a neighbor to hunt with a stone thrower. He had a cell phone with him, from which a call was made after the death of the minor, around 3:00 on Sunday afternoon. The motive for the murder would allegedly be the theft of the minor’s cell phone.
The Ministry of the Interior refers to the victim as Willis Wilder Ávila Acosta, a name that does not coincide with the one that had been shared up to now (Darío); but, as people close to them explained in comments, this was the boy’s official name, except that his mother called him Darío from a young age “and that’s how he stayed for everyone.”
According to the MININT, “the process will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the legal regulations in force in our country.”
In comments to the MININT information, the Cubans demanded justice.
“Condemnable act that does not admit under any circumstances leniency or pity for the criminal, these acts have to carry the most severe of punishments, the full weight of the law has to fall for such a heinous crime. Life is not touched, much less that of a child,” said user Ana Gloria Marrero Hernández.
While Gabriela Portal considered: “Facts like this cannot be tolerated. Fall on this denatured all the weight of the law.
