The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, Juan Cabandié, and the president of the National Parks Administration (APN), Federico Granato, The National Parks Foundation was officially presented, an organization created with the objective of generating resources and building strategies and alliances to protect and complement the management of protected areas and natural monuments in our country.
The presentation was made at the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK)and was attended by Vice Minister of Environment Sergio Federovisky, and the highest authorities of National Parks.
“The idea of the National Parks Foundation is taken from different experiences in the world, where National Parks have a foundation that allows you to have greater agility in the management and administration of resources. The idea is to obtain financing with large or small donations from philanthropists to be part of promoting protected areas in the world,” he explained to Télam. Minister Cabandié, at the beginning of the ceremonyheld in the CCK gastronomic hall.
In this sense, he assured that “the objective is to take care of the ecosystems, provide opportunities to have infrastructures for visitors to enter the National Parks, and we believe that protected areas are much better when people can access them because they generate environmental awareness, and to This requires more personnel, mobile phones, equipment”.
That is why the foundation seeks raise funds from small and large donors via specific campaigns in terms of conservation and new protected areas, infrastructure, public use, environmental education and science and technology.
Federico Granato, meanwhile, he pointed out to Télam that the Foundation “is a tool that seeks to summon the whole of society, to contribute and collaborate with the National Parks of Argentina, with a donation, subscription or even with private campaigns, and from that place help the parks that continue to grow and luckily there are more and more and we want them to be in the best possible way”.

Between the 380 projects being worked on currently in care and restoration of soils, flora and fauna are the population reinforcement of vizcachas in the El Palmar National Park (Entre Ríos); the return of the Patagonian frog to the Laguna Blanca (Neuquén); pampas deer conservation strategy in the Campos del Tuyú National Park (Buenos Aires); restoration of bodies of water in the Perito Moreno National Park (Santa Cruz); restoration of the Iberá National Park (Corrientes) and buffer zones that were affected by the fires.
The foundation will be directed and managed for Board of Directors made up of six members: the president will be the head of the APN; It will have three representatives from National Parks who will be Raúl Chiesa, Ezequiel Landaburo and Fernanda Álvarez; a representative chosen by the Federal Environmental Council (Cofema); and a representative of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which will be Magdalena Vieyra.
Furthermore, the foundation will be subject to control mechanisms established for all civil entities of this type as established by the National Civil and Commercial Code and Resolution No. 3/2021 of the General Inspectorate of Justice.
