The use of protective masks against covid-19 is once again mandatory as of today (16) in closed environments at the University of São Paulo (USP). The measure includes classrooms, auditoriums, museums, laboratories, libraries, public service places and administrative sectors. Among these spaces is the Ipiranga Museum, which is linked to the university.
USP said that in external environments, although not mandatory, use is recommended in agglomeration situations. The decision is made by the Health Advisory Committee of the Rectory and was released on Friday (11). The measure is based on the increase in the number of people with flu symptoms and positive diagnoses of infection by the coronavirus in the academic community.
The commission recommends that surgical masks or N95 masks be used, and that USP users wash their hands frequently or clean them with 70% alcohol. The complete vaccination schedule against covid-19 is mandatory for teachers, employees and students.
The statement also recommends that festive events, social gatherings, coffee breaks or similar events in which participants need to remove the mask to eat are not held. The idea is to avoid situations that increase the possibility of transmitting the virus.
