Luis Antonio Carrera Almoina, his captor, was arrested after various investigations and was acquitted in 2004, after irregularities in his criminal proceedings. In 2006 there was a new sentence, in which he was sentenced to six years in prison for various crimes, except for sexual assault.
But in 2008 it was decided that Carrera Almoina had served his sentence and now his whereabouts are unknown.
