“The government has lost control of security”, Rodolfo Aguilera, Former Minister of Security

In an interview with Radio Panama, the former security minister, Rodolfo Aguilera, said that the robberies at banks, pharmacies, shootings, and murders in recent months show that the government has lost control of security and there is no willingness to take the bull. by the horns

“Today we woke up with the unfortunate news of the murder of a girl and her father, I think it is important that the government understands that it is not only about a strong hand but also to apply a bit of prevention,” Aguilera said.

Regarding the death of a police unit in the line of duty, Aguilera believes that they should be provided with all the necessary protection elements: “When the policeman goes out into the street to carry out operations, he must have the necessary elements, the vest Kevlar, the helmet, the protection visors, the videos that were seen in the media showed these policemen without that equipment, at least that is what can be seen with the naked eye”

According to the Public Ministry’s statistics center, up to the month of October 2022, 401 homicides have been committed, while the crimes of robbery and aggravated robbery have recorded 4,777 cases.

For Aguilera, this administration did not come up with a clear security plan to combat crime: “a few weeks ago the government managed to pass a law that sanctions the strategic security plan, however, drafting that plan and getting it approved took them three years, that tells you that in reality there is a pachydermic speed and there is no desire to produce results, one does not enter the government to take three years to make a strategic plan, one has to arrive with a plan “concluded Aguilera
