The friday november 18 the third version of the Valdivia International Photography Festival. Photographers from different latitudes of the world will meet in a space for convergence and learning about contemporary photography.
Workshops from different fields, approaches and techniques will be held, and there will be a series of collective, individual, national and international exhibitions.
After a successful call and more than 50 selected photographers from all over Latin America, the artists will have the opportunity to live and share with photographers, editors and curators who will be giving workshops. Such as musuk nolte (Mexico-Peru), Jorge Panchoaga (Colombia), Romina Resuche (Argentina), mariela sancari (Mexico-Argentina), among others.
Among the multiple exhibitions that will take place in the exhibition spaces of Valdivia to accommodate photography, the international collective exhibition “Remain in the fracture” curated by Carolina Candia Antich, where the photographers will participate, stands out. nia diela (Chili), violet capasso (Argentina), Celeste Rojas (Chili), lujan agusti (Argentina) and Gihan Tubbeh (Peru).
Along with the workshops and exhibitions that will be taking place throughout the festival, different agents, curating photographers, editors and researchers will hold talks on the topics currently addressed by photography, of which the talks they will hold stand out:
Xavier Ribas (Spain), photographer and professor at the University of Brighton (England) who has dedicated his research to the historical relationship between the territory and saltpeter from different perspectives; Y Joan Fontcuberta (Spain), photographer, visual artist and visiting professor at universities in Spain, France, Great Britain and the United States, will give a virtual talk on algorithmic photography and the visual revolution.
The festival activities will take place in spaces of the Casa Prochelle Municipal Cultural Center, at the Austral University of Chile, Replica Gallery, Luis Oyarzún House – Links with the Environment, Austral University of Chile, Rudolph Amandus Philippi Exploration Museum – Campus of the Museums, Riñihue Hybrid Room, UACh Faculty of Sciences and Barrios Bajos Gallery.
All talks and exhibitions held at the Festival are completely free and open to the entire community.
