Aggreko, a company that provides energy solutions for companies in order to generate greater operational efficiency, cost savings and reduced environmental impact, presented the latest trends in energy solutions for the oil and gas sector during its participation in the ARPEL 2022 Conference, of the Association of Companies of PetroleumGas and Companies Renewable energy of Latin America and the Caribbean, developed in Lima.
According to Miguel Rubini, Business Development Manager at Aggreko for Peru, the implementation of Aggreko’s hybrid energy solutions in these sectors could save up to 20% of energy costs by displacing expensive diesel and reducing energy consumption. CO2 emissions between 10% and 30%.
“Hybrid solutions such as the Battery Energy Storage System (BEES) are implemented after a personalized analysis of each project to guarantee operational improvements. Among its many benefits we can mention the frequency and voltage control of the line, working in parallel with the network, in which micro-cuts and blackouts are minimized. In addition, in island mode it makes the generators work at their optimum operating point”, he explained.
On the other hand, Rubini highlighted energy solutions directly related to improving the performance of oil and gas operations equipment: “the operators of these industries often use equipment with long hours of use, and with Aggreko they can have better technology in its energy matrix, optimizing its operating costs, providing greater reliability in the supply”.
According to the executive, the technology that exists in each project can be used to generate energy. “In the northern jungle of Peru there is a lot of potential for oil production, the residual is used a lot and can be used for generation, likewise an energy supply can be made in the north of the country with well gas. It is possible to have a single source of energy, depending on the production of the area”.
In addition, Aggreko implements virtual pipelines, which generate gas power without the need for a physical pipeline, be it compressed or liquid gas.
One of the competitive advantages of Aggreko technologies is that they can be installed in the most remote areas of Peru and in the countries where it is present. Regarding the capacity and scope of Aggreko in Latin America, Nicolás Perez Vulich, Business Development Executive of the company for the Argentine market, commented in ARPEL: “we are the only global provider of mobile and modular energy services, control of temperature and power supply for the oil and gas industry. Our fleet exceeds 9,800 MW distributed and we operate in 80 countries. In Latin America we are installed, operating and providing service in: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Panama, which provides support to all of Central America”.
The executive highlighted that, in his market, Aggreko has three well-identified basins located in Patagonia which have great potential for oil and gas extraction: Cuenca Austral, Neuquén and the Golfo San Jorge added to more than three refineries. and various processing plants and petrochemical industries sectored, mostly in the country’s capital.
Aggreko is a strategic energy partner that provides solutions for each of the project stages. “We have unmatched experience in designing bespoke solutions to solve even the most complex challenges. We support projects from their construction, during commissioning and testing, production, to maintenance and decommissioning. Whether it is operating upstream (on and off shore), midstream or downstream”, explained Perez Vulich.
