This is a survey conducted quarterly by the Industry Association of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) in which it is determined, in order of importance, which are the main factors that affect the competitiveness of the industrial sector in a particular quarter.

The “raw material cost” remained in first place for the eighth consecutive quarter (it was the first factor in the October-December 2020 quarter, thus completing two years in the first position), after consistently rising in importance from the fourth place it was in in the April-June 2020 quarter.
Furthermore, at second place in July-September 2020 and first place in the quarter October-December 2020. This indicator showed an incidence of 30% in the period analyzed here.
- The “unfair competition” ranked second with an incidence of 14%. It has been in that position throughout 2022, while “low level of economic activity” continued to increase in importance, rising from fifth to third place among factors affecting competitiveness, with an incidence of 10%.
- The “Marine transport and terrestrial” dropped from third place in the April-June quarter to fourth place in the July-September quarter, with an incidence of 9%.
Altogether, there are fifteen factors that are considered key to a competitive national industry.
The “cost and supply of electric power” continued to increase its importance, going from seventh place (January-March 2022) to sixth place (April-June 2022) and to fifth place in the July-September quarter, with an incidence of 8%.
