After the Electoral Tribunal decided to reactivate the signature collection process through the mobile application (APP), the presidential candidate for free application, Francisco Paco Carreira, demanded that it be transparent and said that reopening the use of the APP is a contradictory measure, since the results of the audit carried out by the election regulator were not first publicly presented.
“We demand that the complete final audit be presented first and that it be said that it will be done with the people who incurred in this fault,” he said.
Let us remember that the TE announced that it will reactivate the use of the APP as of November 22 for those applicants for free application who do not have more than one challengeable signature.
“I view this announcement with concern, first of all a month ago through communications the Electoral Tribunal revealed that it had found about a thousand challengeable signatures in the system through the app,” he said, adding that “now after the complaint that we filed and the pressure from pre-candidates at the national level, we are told that there are more than 28,000 voidable signatures, according to what the Electoral Tribunal itself has audited.
He stressed that this investigation should not have been carried out by the entity itself, since it is a judge and a party, “a month ago they told us that the audit would be carried out by the Technological University of Panama, without referring to hiring private companies, now they allege that the three companies they contacted refused to perform the service”.
