The Group of Reflection Released Political Prisoners (Grex) demanded the immediate release of the former politician carlos vallearbitrarily detained on Saturday, November 5, one day before the municipal elections of the regime in Nicaragua.
The arrest was made at his home, located in the Colonia Unidad de Propósito, in Managua, while he was asleep. Police agents violently entered Valle’s house. They broke the gates at around 9 in the morning, scaled the wall and forcibly entered the building without presenting an arrest warrant, his daughter Elsa Valle explained to Article 66who said that his father is being held in “El Nuevo Chipote”.

One of the members of the Grex told this means of communication that this action is “a meaningless hunt, because he argues that” in the words of his daughter —Elsa—Carlos Valle was totally outside the decisions of the groups, of the incidents and of all the political activities in Nicaragua.”
He also said that the same day the opponent’s arrest, his family was leaving Nicaragua in search of political asylum in the United States. “Elsa Valle is crossing to the United States with her mother, her brothers and her three-month-old son,” she explained.
«Practically —Carlos Valle— he is a man who is left without his family nucleus. This arbitrary action against a man who is integrated into opposition groups is unfortunate, he has maintained a level of opinion in his social network, but more personally than organizationally, so from a political point of view, it does not have any logic this kidnapping,” he added.
More than 40 former political prisoners recaptured
As for the persecution against former politicians, the source pointed out that it should be remembered that threats have always been “the sword of Damocles —in reference to an imminent danger— that all the political prisoners have carried since 2019 ».
“We must remember that there are at least 49 political prisoners recaptured from 2019 to date. Some of these arrests have responded to their level of activism, as is the case of Kevin Solís, a great activist who has not stopped participating in protest activities since he was released from prison,” said the member of the Reflection Group.

Valle became one of the most recognized opponents of the Ortega and Murillo regime in the country. He led the social protests with a giant photograph with the face of his daughter Elsa Valle hanging around her neck, who was facing terrorism charges at the time. The man was arrested on September 15, 2018 and was released in February 2019.
