The Public Ministry opened a preliminary investigation on Monday against the Minister of Culture, Betsy Chavezafter denunciation of “sponsoring” contracts that favored Antonio Sotelo in the public sector, according to ‘Cuarto Poder’.
The investigation was opened “for the alleged crimes of incompatible negotiation or taking advantage of the position and aggravated influence peddling.”

The Prosecutor’s Office also “ordered to initiate the preliminary proceedings to clarify the facts that are the subject of the investigation, related to the alleged hiring of relatives in positions in the State.”
According to the program, Antonio Sotelo has known Betssy Chávez since the last electoral campaign when, as secretary of representatives, he supported Peru Libre. The trust between the two led to his being appointed as representative of the Ministry of Labor before Senati on January 12, 2022 thanks to a ministerial resolution signed by the aforementioned minister.
