Havana Cuba. – From the most rigorous prison El Pitirre, also known as 15-80, in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, the political prisoner Yasser Fernando Rodriguez Gonzalez denounces that senior officials of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) did not meet with the inmates during a visit to that prison at the end of October.
As Rodríguez González pointed out in a telephone conversation from prison, Brigadier General Abelardo González Jiménez, head of the General Directorate of Prisons; the first colonel Osmani Leyva Ávila, second head of Prisons and Prisons at the national level; Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Camilo Enríquez García, Deputy Chief of Jails and Prisons of Havana, and Lieutenant Colonel Chala, of the General Directorate of Prisons of Cuba, appeared in El Pitirre on October 26.
However, he pointed out, these officials went only to the medical post without visiting any of the companies where they were expected by the inmates who needed to discuss what was happening inside the prison.
Rodríguez González took advantage of the occasion to also denounce that on the same day 26, the opponent and 11J protester Walfrido Rodríguez Piloto, 54 years old, was isolated in a cell, who refused to wear the prisoner’s uniform and thus stated it directly to the second unit chief of the 15-80, Osmani Ramírez Díaz, alias “el Chino”.
As punishment for disobeying the military, they took off his white clothes, pushed him and locked him in the cell. The political prisoner added that Rodríguez Piloto is kept in his underwear, and pointed out that the political prisoner suffers from dermatitis, for which he has not received treatment.
This information was corroborated by Marty Rodríguez Piloto, the protester’s sister, who added that the military initially refused to allow her a family visit scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, until they were finally allowed to meet in a small room next to the cell.
Rodríguez González also indicated that another inmate named Rodolfo Darrit Soularit, 56, who had been planted since October 26, was transferred to the Combinado del Este.
The political prisoner stressed that no official has visited the prisoners, who are mistreated in that prison. He also described that the food they receive is poor and scarce. For example, on October 18 they were served two boiled potatoes and an amount equivalent to one tablespoon of scrambled eggs with water; on October 23 and 24 the rice was served raw, and on November 10 it contained mouse droppings.
Rodríguez González also listed another violation committed in El Pitirre: taking away the inmates’ right to speak on the phone and only allowing them to do so when they feel like it, sometimes once a week, sometimes not at all, he said.
