A youth is in custody after three students were killed and two others wounded in a shooting on a University of Virginia bus Sunday night, authorities said.
The young man was arrested Monday morning after a night pursuit.
Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. is charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of use of a handgun in the commission of a felony following the deaths of those youths.
The shooting took place on a bus full of students returning home from a school field trip to see a play in Washington, DC, university officials said.
All three victims were on the football team, University of Virginia President Jim Ryan said at a news conference. They were identified as Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry.
The shooting is just the latest of several on a U.S. college, high school or elementary school campus in recent years. T
