The World Conference on Wildlife begins in Panama

Starting today, the Conference of the Parties to Cites begins in our country, this will be the fourth meeting to be held in Central and South America and the Caribbean since the entry into force of the Convention on July 1, 1975, and the first CoP to take place in the region since 2002.

Representatives of 160 governments will meet in Panama from November 14 to 25 to adopt decisions that will affect the future of the conservation of some 600 species of fauna and flora.

Just one step away from starting Cites CoP19, Diana Laguna Caicedo, Vice Minister of Environment of the Republic of Panama, welcomes everyone to participate and together we make important decisions for our biodiversity.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), one of the world’s most powerful tools for wildlife conservation through trade regulation.
