Organizers and government authorities checked the preparations for the 38 Havana International Fair (Fihav), which will open its doors this Monday at the Expocuba fairgrounds in the capital, according to official media on the island.
The event, considered one of the most important commercial events in the region, will last until November 18 and returns after two years of forced recess due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a note published in the newspaper Granma.
The review of the last organizational details, as well as the repair and maintenance work of the facilities of the enclosure, was headed by the Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrerowho indicated that the work carried out “must be made sustainable beyond the celebration of the event,” the media reports.

Granma points out that the deputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP)Alejandro Gil Fernández, as well as several ministers, authorities and businessmen.
Regarding the forthcoming edition of the event, Marrero Cruz underlined the importance of the fair for the attraction and concretion of business “in a context marked by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the impacts of the international crisis,” the publication adds.
He also highlighted the need to look for projects to continue developing cuban economy With the presence of foreign capitalboth suppliers and investors.
He specifies the medium that, according to the projections announced by the Minister of Foreign trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, the attendance of more than 190 state entities and some 25 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)together with representatives of companies from more than 60 countries.
Add the information that 23 official delegations, and that chambers of commerce from more than 30 nations will also be represented.
During the tour of Expocuba, Marrero explained that work is continuing on the design of the future operation of the facility, located on the outskirts of Havana, projected with the joint and balanced participation of the socialist state enterprise and private economic actors.
“Facing the year 2023, each organization must have well identified and planned maintenance actions for its pavilions, with an exhibition and commercial conception in order to position the fairground among the recreational preferences of Cuban families,” said the official, quoted by Granma
Among the novelties of Fihav 2022 will be the participation of Cuban investors residing abroadespecially those based in the United States, a country that will once again have its own space on the premises.
In addition, the V Foreign Investment Forum will be held to present the Portfolio of Business Opportunities, and the program will also include the presentation of Cuba as the venue for the Expo Aladi (Latin American Integration Association) Multisectoral Business Roundtable.
