As of today, Monday, November 14, the suspension announced by the Dominican Medical Association comes into force (cmd) a Mapfre ARS at the national level, as well as ARS Monumental in the North region, Renacer in the South and ARS Simag in the East.
This suspension, for an indefinite time, applies to medical consultations and elective procedures.
With this new action, the cmd reinforces its plan to fight against the Health Risk Administrators (ARS), where already, since last October 18, the massive disaffiliation to Universal ARS.
So far, patients are paying for consultations, as private patients, with amounts between 2,000 and 3,500 pesoseffects to be reimbursed according to your contracted service plan.
Among his claims, the cmd calls for expansion of basic health plan, unification of fees and that the operating codes are not granted by the ARS.
Possible meetings this week
Last Friday the 11th, the Ombudsman, Paul Ulloaannounced that he held a meeting with the president of the cmd, Senen Caba, and that for this week, “several meetings have been arranged with the interest of overcoming the problems affecting the health sector”.
“Health is a fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution and we are concerned that many Dominicans are not receiving the service, so we seek a sincere dialogue between the actors to guarantee that this right can be fulfilled,” said Ulloa.
Given the differences that have arisen between the different actors in the health system, which has led to the announcement of the suspension of the services offered by doctors to members of several ARSthe National Social Security Council (CNSS) created a special commission to know, evaluate and analyze the risk that this situation entails for the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS).
Said commission is made up of the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Public Health on behalf of the government sector, representatives of the employer sector, the labor sector, the nursing union sector, and other health professionals and technicians.
In that same order, the Minister of Health, Daniel Riveraalso spoke about it and appealed for dialogue.
“We believe that we have to reach agreements. Why? Because the most important thing is the tranquility of the patients”declared the also president of the Health Cabinet.
