This Sunday November 13, the mayor Claudia Lopez announced, from the La Calera Unified Command Post (PMU), that Bogotá has to prepare because the rains will continue.
For this reason, together with the District Council for Risk Management, the decision was made to declare public calamity in Bogota.

“There are going to be rains and, in fact, rains await us until February 2023. For this reason, the district cabinet declared a public calamity in Bogotá due to the rain emergency, so that we can have all the resources we need, do the more effective contracting to continue responding to emergencies“said the president.
López commented that, according to Ideam forecasts, the rains will intensify as the month of November progresses, so the risk remains.

The emergency in La Calera
Regarding the emergency in La Calera, Claudia López announced that the work of removing debris and felling trees at risk of collapsing has been lifted, but will restart this Monday at 6:30 in the morning, when she will return to the site to reinstall the unified command post.
He explained that the decision is due to the fact that it is raining, although not hard, and to the darkness in the place. However, he assured that there was machinery in the place of the emergency.
“There are drizzles, there are going to be drizzles, but fortunately not so heavy. But since night has already arrived and we have little light and, in addition, it is raining, we are going to leave a basic equipment here“, confirmed the mayor.
On the other hand, the president complained that the concessionaire for the road to La Calera continued to collect the toll, despite the emergency, and pointed out that sand had arranged a million pesos so that the dump trucks can take the rubble to the municipality of La Calera.
These, precisely, are the only vehicles authorized to travel to the municipality of La Calera. The road will continue to be closed to private cars and occasional cyclists. and only residents will be allowed to pass until the San Luis sector.

“The enabled lane from Patios to La Calera will be used exclusively for machinery and emergency vehicles. Alternate passage through the Codito and North Highway“said the mayor.
At the moment, there are 46 affected families for whom three shelters were available in the communal halls La Sureña, San Luis and San Isidro with emergency kits and snacks.
As for the fatal victims left by the heavy rains on Saturday, November 12, it was confirmed that two people died: Angela Patricia Penarete, 29 years old, and Alexander Rodriguez, 33 years old, and there is still a missing man: Javier Velalla, 40 years old, who was on the way to Meta.
