The registration period for candidates for the position of Attorney General of the State for the period 2023 – 2028 ends.
Lawyer Manuel Doldán Breuer was the 13th applicant to appear for the position. He himself is 44 years old and is a Fiscal Agent for International Affairs. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, National University of Asunción, class of 2003.
That same Friday, Carlos Arregui, current member of the Board of Directors of the National Development Bank (BNF), also presented himself to run for the position. Currently the two of them are the best-known public figures who signed up for the contest.
Cecilia Pérez, international affairs adviser to the Executive, and Óscar Orué, minister of the Undersecretary of State for Taxation (SET), announced on Friday that they were going to decide on it over the weekend.
For her part, Mónica Seifart, former representative of the Executive before the Council of the Judiciary (she resigned precisely to run for the Attorney General’s Office) already registered yesterday, while René Fernández, minister of the Secretariat for the Prevention of Money Laundering or property (Seprelad), has not yet registered for the position.
According to unofficial information, both Seifart, Fernández and Cecilia Pérez would be candidates for the Executive for the current elections.
In addition, Jorge Rolón Luna also announced that he signed up to fight for the position.

Only on Friday, 7 candidates registered, which were added to the six already registered previously. The full list is as follows;

3. Alfredo Barrios Jara, civil and commercial judge of the capital, graduated in UNA Law, class of 2006.
4. Blas Daniel Bernal, independent lawyer, graduated from the Catholic University (UC), class of 2009.
5. Federico Espinoza, deputy prosecutor, graduated in UNA Law, class of 1995.
6. Juan Pablo Rolón, tax assistant, graduated in UNA Law, class of 2006.
7. Roberto Ríos, independent lawyer, graduated from UNA Law in the class of 1984.
8. Carlos Arregui, current member of the board of directors of the Banco Nacional de Fomento (BNF), graduated in UNA Law in the class of 1995.
9. Rodrigo Estigarribia, prosecutor for economic crimes, graduated in UNA Law, class of 2009.
10. Patricia Rivarola, deputy prosecutor, graduated from UNA Law, in the class of 1998.
11. Matilde Moreno, deputy prosecutor, graduated from UNA Law in the class of 1995.
12. Gustavo Cáceres Fernández, independent lawyer, graduated from the Autonomous University of Asunción UAA, promotion of 2000.
