Since the pandemic, pets have become -even more- a fundamental part of our lives. Official records indicate that in Vitacura there are 10 thousand dogs and cats, but could be many more. Therefore, the Municipality made the decision to declare the commune as pet-friendly starting this Saturday, November 12.
From now on, the residents of Vitacura come across animal tracks – along with the zebra crossings near these buildings – that guide the path of people and their pets. They are in Av. Alonso de Córdova with Bicentenario, in Bicentenario with O’Brien, in Av. Alonso de Córdova with Nueva Costanera, in Av. Vitacura with Alonso de Córdova, O’Brien with Nueva Costanera and Av. Las Tranquera with Escrivá de Balaguer.
Also, in Alonso de Cordova Ave. was established the Pet Friendly Route, where ice cream parlors, restaurants, hairdressers and other stores open their doors to pets, so they can accompany their owners. They will be able to recognize them with an identification sticker.
“We are giving recognition to those who are part of our families and our lives; and that -from now on- they will be just another neighbor. That is why they will be welcome in our municipal buildings: in the Civic Center, Vitamayor, HUB Vitacura, Casa del Encuentro and Vitacentro, which will be conditioned to welcome pets and make them feel welcome”said the mayor of Vitacura, Camila Merino.
The launch, held at the Vitacura Civic Center, was attended by more than 500 pets along with their owners.
There were different activities: a painting contest for pets, a spring outfit parade, training techniques dictated by the new municipal ethology area and more than twenty entrepreneurs from the commune.
There were also free services for pets, such as rabies vaccines, canine and feline polyvalent vaccine, intradermal microchip, identification tags and an adoption day with the Mirada Animal Chile Corporation.
