They find the eighth fatality of the heavy rains on Friday

Santo Domingo.- With the discovery of the remains of the eighth fatality of the rains that hit Santo Domingo last Friday, the search for people reported as missing concludes, while Mr. Fernando Arturo Ramírez remains missing.

The Emergency Operations Center confirmed to EFE the discovery of the body that, like the body rescued in the morning hours of this Monday, was located in the waters of the Isabela River in the capital, and now it will be identified in the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).

With the discovery of this eighth victim, the search work concludes since there are no reports of more missing persons, but monitoring tasks will be maintained in case the remains of someone whose disappearance is not known appear, something that has happened on other occasions. , pointed the COE.

Since Saturday, members of the Civil Defense, the Humanitarian Response Unit of the Dominican Army, the Command amphibian of the Dominican Navy, units of the National Police, the Fire Department and the 911 System have carried out a search and rescue operation in the Cañada La Arenita de la Puya de Arroyo Hondo, the Ozama and Isabela rivers and the Caribbean Sea, in the capital.

So far, the authorities have identified six fatalities due to the intense rainfall that collapsed the Dominican capital during the afternoon and night of last Friday, causing great damage, mainly in the vehicle fleet, which led the Government to decree the state of emergency.

The deceased are Robert Maldonado Rosaro, 15, who died in West Santo Domingo by electrocution, as well as Roberto Quevedo Santana, 50, from the Las 800 de los Ríos sector, in the capital, suffocated by immersion, according to the report provided to EFE by the Emergency Operations Center.

Likewise, the bodies of Teofilo Antonio Cruz Peña, 63, who died of suffocation due to drowning in the Arroyo Hondo sector, and Yilmes Céspedes, 20, who was crushed to death after a wall fell on him in the Villa Claudia sector, were identified.

The other two fatalities are Alberto Javier Pimentel, 47, who was electrocuted in the Villa Francisca sector, and Edwin Alexánder Cedano, 20, who was crushed to death in the La Zurza sector.
