Brazilian man dies in a road accident

The death of a 27-year-old man of Brazilian nationality was the result of a traffic accident that occurred this Sunday morning on Route 30, within the jurisdiction of the Department of Artigas.

The incident occurred at kilometer 105 of the aforementioned route, indicated the Highway Police. According to the report, the vehicle registered in Brazil was traveling from west to east towards the city of Artigas.

Around 7:00 a.m. upon reaching the aforementioned point, the 27-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control of it. As a result, the car skidded and overturned.

Inside the car were a total of five people, all Brazilian nationals. The deceased died when, at the time of the accident, he was ejected from the vehicle, causing instant death.

Personnel from the Road Police, Scientific Police and the 2nd Shift Prosecutor’s Office, in charge of Sabrina Masaferro, were present at the site. The authorities are working to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the Renault Logan model car.

The other occupants of the vehicle are 20, 22 and 25 years old. The youngest of them was seriously injured as a result of the accident and had to be transferred to a health center in the city of Quaraí, where he remains hospitalized. The other two young men did not suffer serious injuries.

The authorities subjected the driver to a spirometry to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol, but the result was negative.
