This Saturday, the counting of the youth elections of the Colorado Party was carried out, which had been held on November 5, for the renewal of the two positions that the Colorado youth have in the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the PC, at while they were seeking to integrate more young people into the departmental committees.
In total, just over 26,000 votes were counted, more or less what was expected by the party. “If we pass the 20,000 votes, it is a success,” Julio María Sanguinetti had stated prior to the elections.
The Batllistas sector was the one that prevailed with the majority of the votes at the national level, through the Republican Youth sublema: they obtained 54.1% of the total sum of all the departments.
The Citizens sector, under the New Spirit sublema, obtained 7,604 of a total of 25,777 valid votes, that is, 29.5%.
The conservative Wind of Change sector, led by Gustavo Zubía, barely managed to get 681 supporters. List 15 – Youth in Action, promoted by Raúl Batlle, only obtained 227 ballots throughout the country.
One of those who made the most noise on social networks was the libertarian and ultra-conservative youth activist Bautista Gil Castillo, who tried to join the CEN but barely managed to get 142 votes. The controversial tweeter usually makes statements that place him well to the right of the ideological spectrum, and he has stated that he is a fan of Javier Milei, Donald Trump, Nayib Bukele and Jair Bolsonaro.
