Sandungueo, gasoline and a legendary goodbye to Daddy Yankee

Sandungueo, gasoline and a legendary goodbye to Daddy Yankee

Behind the name Ramón Luis Ayala, there is a man, a “Big Boss”, a “Leggendaddy”, a “Jefe”, “Cangri” or any other powerful nickname they want to apply to someone who went from being a singer to becoming a movement. and this Saturday night he made history again in a goodbye from the Olympic Stadium.

Daddy Yankee offered a night full of sandungueo, perreo, classics, gasoline, but above all a lot of gratitude, to the Dominican public for the support they have given him on the journey that made him a legend and for being present on the special night of his ” Last lap tour” in the Dominican Republic, with which he marks a turning point in his career.

The party was opened by Dj Legend, who was in charge of igniting the atmosphere before receiving the protagonist, with a mix that combined current records with reggfeton classics, managing to warm up the engines to receive Cangri.

A clock marked 9:50, the lights on the stage went out and a countdown of 5:00 minutes on the screens set off alerts in the public. The stadium was lit up with cell phone flashes, ready to record the first moment of Big Boss’s farewell.

When there was only one minute left, the audience from the ends began to shout anxiously and at minute 00:00, a vibrating bass made the hearts of those present tremble and a plane on the screen landed the “Boss” with the instrumental of that song in the background, while a digital Daddy Yankee began to sing “The abuser of the abuser.”

A team of dancers dressed as stewardesses danced with him. That went from digital to live, including the crew.

“RD we left”, were the first words of the pilot Daddy Yankee, who entered the stage wearing a shiny gold jacket and performing “Remix”.

Little time passed for the perreo to start, he put everyone to give it all the way down with “Problema”, a song with which he closed the repertoire of his most recent album “Legend Daddy”.

He went to “Barrio Fino Live” in 2005, and gave an order to the DJ. “Dj, Rómpelo!”, and he began to dream up the instrumental of the classic “Rompe”.

At the stage level, the images reflected throughout the night the evolution of Daddy Yankee and elements that represent the artist, villages in his native country, plus the covers and the names of his 7 studio albums.

In his first conversation with RD, Daddy Yankee already warned that it would be a night full of classics and rumba. “Good evening, Dominican Republic, your usual brother, Daddy Yankee, greets you, thank you very much for being here, you know that this is my last show on this earth, in my sister land, thank you very much for coming to this great memory ‘The last return ‘, and we’re going to sing all those classics and the new classics and we’re going to party all night”.

muse of dr

Due to the proximity and resemblance between the islands of DR and PR, both Dominican artists have been inspired by Puerto Rican genres, and vice versa. Daddy Yankee is no exception and he recognized it on stage.

Since there is no merengue or bachata without RD, there is no mambo either, and before interpreting “Lo qué pasa, pasa”, the artist thanked the country for serving as his muse on this and other records that have become classics.

“This theme was born in the heart of here, so many themes that I have thanks to the Dominican Republic. What a muse you give me, you don’t know the muse you give me to create music, incredible. This song is one of the great hymns of music, thanks to the inspiration that you give me and I want you to sing it with me tonight, it really caught on, what’s more, you are the artist and I am the fanatic, sing this song with me, let’s go to remember him forever until the moon”.

The “Rumbatón” continued singing that album and Dominican identity shone again. “Give me mambo, give me bachata, give me to”, she said and dropped “She picked me up”. At that time one of the dancers stood out for wearing the Dominican flag around her neck.

Big Boss’s farewell to the Dominican Republic was a rumba that put the public in a frenzy for just over two hours, with a complete repertoire that did not discriminate against any classic. Giving the public the opportunity to travel to his past days of perreo, between collaborations and individual songs, Daddy Yankee toured from “Seguroski” in 2005, for “Your Prince”, “I’m going”, “Don’t leave me alone”, “Mayor que yo”, “Machucando”, “Hasta abajo”, “Yamilette”, “Somos de calle” and one of her favorites, as revealed in the concert, “Llamado deemergencia” from 2008.

Of the most recent ones, he performed the most viral, among them, “Sal y perrea”, “Xltima vez”, “La Santa”, “Baila, baila, baila”, “Shake it”, “Que tira pa lante”, “ Dura”, “China” “Soleltera Remix”, “Agua” and the song that made the world sing in Spanish in 2017, “Despacito”, with Luis Fonsi.

He couldn’t get off the stage without making his iconic helicopter and windshield. She said “I want to see a sheet of stars and a constellation, I want to see cell phones in the audience”. That was an order, they turned on the lanterns and from side to side thousands of lights moved.

guests

Almost all of his guests walked the stage virtually, except for two venues. The first to go up was Omega El Fuerte, with whom he performed the mambo version of “What I have to do”. Then he was accompanied by El Alfa to sing “Bombón” together with him and the public went downstairs. They congratulated each other on their success and then performed a second song together, “Pam.”

The other features were sung with the artists virtually, “Ozuna”, “Sech”, “Bad Bunny”, “Raw Alejandro” and “Mike Towers, were some of them.

Gratitude

“I don’t want to end the show without thanking all the people who have been part of my career,” he introduced before saying goodbye and remembering all the support he has received since even that time he appeared at Agua Splash.

“You have been supporting me since I was a little boy, since I was a child, until today, generation after generation, almost four decades, giving music and a country that has been with me since day one, it is called Dominican Republic. You know that this is the farewell to this server and it means a lot to me that each of those who are here, who are those loyal fans, thank you for being with me in those moments, thank you for believing in me, and I want you to know that if you they want, I love them with my life, family… I have so many emotions I can’t lie to you anymore, this is a roller coaster because I remember coming to Agua Splash, thank you very much, that is worth a lot”.

For his last interpretation he spoke of the revolution that this theme had. “This song was the one that made reggaeton go global, this song changed the game forever, it went viral without social networks. It is the infinite song of music, the historical song, the adrenaline always rises, if you have a problem with your car, you can call me and I will fill your tank” and closed with the music that started it all “La Gasolina”.

Daddy Yankee supports the country through a foundation for 10 years

At the concert, Daddy Yankee also revealed that he has been discreetly working with a foundation in the country for 10 years and I also send them a message.

“My people from the foundation get the message, thanks to the foundation that we have here, thanks for the support you give me to all those children, I will always be with you, we have been working in the country for 10 years, quietly in silence but always contributing to the community and so I will continue serving because my call is to serve this beautiful country.”
