Marko Cortés, PAN national leader, explained that with these agreements, the PAN is renewed in the face of society, with whom it seeks to make an alliance.
“We finally managed to reform our statutes, the rules of the PAN, a PAN more open to society, linked to it, that can quickly affiliate all Mexicans who want to be part of the party,” he noted in an interview.
In addition, he said, the political action program was endorsed, which is the country’s proposal for 2024 “and many more years, which means focusing on solving, with facts, the problems of poverty, generating job opportunities for the population” .
“We believe that investment is the way we are going to ensure that people can get ahead in a dignified manner and, in addition, we are promoting the return of popular insurance that does provide coverage and generate medical attention for all,” said Cortés.
A country project for the future is sought, but solving the problems in the present, he cut short.
Important changes
The immediate affiliation to the PAN will not have any procedure. You will only need the will to do it and it can be done physically or virtually.
Affiliation will also be facilitated for Mexicans residing abroad and the endorsement process will be an extraordinary measure that guarantees the operation of the party.
Attention and participation offices will be created to promote direct and permanent contact with supporters.
All PAN officials, from any party structure, popular representatives, must commit to comply with, disseminate, position and support the Principles of Doctrine, the platforms, the Political Action Program and the Code of Ethics.
“He who wins does not win everything, he who loses does not lose everything,” said Cortés.
With this change, the PAN intends to recognize “the democratic essence” that exists in the party, integrating in all decision-making spaces the representation of projects that did not win in internal elections.
One of the most transcendental modifications is that of the participation of women in the party, since although there was a majority of female presence in State Directive Committees, now parity will be statutory in the PAN and must be applied in all leadership, organs of decision and commissions of the party.
Mechanisms will be designed to guarantee non-discrimination and non-violence among the militants of National Action.
There will be a Justice Commission, in charge of dealing with and resolving issues of political violence against women, and a Gender Attention Commission, with functions of monitoring the application of parity, of advising victims of violence.
Regarding the relaunch of the country project by updating the Political Action Program, the party’s vision was presented on issues of security, economy, environment, foreign policy, health, new technologies and education. This program was approved unanimously.
The PAN Good Government Model was also approved, a set of basic guidelines with minimum parameters that National Action governments must follow to be “different and distinguishable.”
Regarding the ratification of ex-governor Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, as national adviser, Cortés commented that he was proposed and elected in the state assembly.
He rejected that this ratification affects the image of PANism, because in this project, he said, “we fit all and more those who have not folded and those who have not won, against an authoritarian federal government, like the one we have.”
