The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo accused the political prisoner Karla Vega for the alleged crimes of conspiracy and spreading false news, denounced the human rights lawyer Yonarqui Martínez.
The alleged victim is the State of Nicaragua and Nicaraguan society, as well as the other accusations presented by the Public Ministry against the more than 50 hostages of conscience who are held captive in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ), known as “El Chipote”. ».
The opponent is in preventive detention and the initial hearing will be next Monday, November 21, 2022. The woman has been denied access to a defense attorney of her choice.

Oppositionist Karla Vega, originally from the municipality of El Rosario, in the department of Carazo, was arrested on November 5 on the eve of the municipal votes. Police officers will forcibly remove her from her home without a court order. She is captive at the Jinotepe station.
Martinez explained to Article 66 that she is “really concerned” as a human rights defender about the health of the political prisoner because she has sequelae caused by Covid-19 and needs medication.
“With this that they do not let her see her and that they do not allow the lawyer of her choice to take charge of her defense, it is worrying because we do not know the state of health in which she is currently. In this case, I hold the authorities responsible for her in case something happens to her, “said the jurist.
Karla Vega also suffers from hypertension and has a vascular thrombosis in her right leg, so it is urgent that she receive her medicine, which has not been accepted by the institution.
An informant revealed to Article 66 that before Vega’s arbitrary detention, police agents came to “go around” her home, took photographs and then left. “A commissioner was visiting Karla —Vega— and her family,” said the source, without specifying the reasons for the visit or how long the siege lasted.
Although Karla Vega —who is a housewife— does not belong to any opposition group, sources point out that she did participate in the 2018 social protests against the Nicaraguan government.
