Members of the Mexican Union of Electricians (SME), led by its leader Martín Esparza, tore down fences surrounding the National Palace and hung cardboard on the façade demanding their reintegration into the Federal Electricity Commission, the reaffiliation of their union members to the insurance and respect for trade union autonomy. They also requested an audience with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who is on tour. They accused that they have not been received or had interlocution
with the government, despite being the holders of the note as legitimate representatives
of the union. Instead, they said, they have had dialogue with another dissident group. They delivered a document to Citizen Attention of the Presidency where they set out their demands and explain that in 2020 their leader was re-elected in office for five more years.
