The Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) decided this Saturday Irís Guaba will replace the resigning Julius Caesar Valentine.
As for the secretary of municipal affairs, Rafael Hidalgo, former mayor of Azua, was appointed.
In the Secretariat of International Relations, the committee decided to appoint Víctor Suárez, provisionally in that position until the Central Committee is convened to definitively choose the new head.
The general secretary of the PLDCharlie Mariotti, reported that Guaba will be sworn in at the next ordinary meeting, at the beginning of December.
With 39 of the 45 members of that body, the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) began the ordinary meeting corresponding to the current month of November at 4:20 in the afternoon.
Former President Danilo Medina, President of the PLDleads the meeting having at his side the PLD presidential candidate with the greatest sympathy in the population, Abel Martínez and the vice president of the PLD Themistocles Montas.
Danilo Medina himself presented the apologies of Margarita Cedeño, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal and Alejandrina Germán and reported that the Secretary General, Charles Mariotti, was on his way back from the airport from his trip abroad.
The meeting began with the point of reports as established in the Parliamentary Regulations of the PLD and continued with the items on the agenda regarding the resignation of the former Senator Julius Caesar Valentine of PLD.
One of the first points was to know the final report of the Organizing Commission of the Citizen Consultation on Presidential Candidates (CONAP), which concluded its work with the delivery of said document.
The meeting of the Political Committee this Saturday also dealt with the agenda that will take place this Sunday in the General Assembly of leaders, convened to inform and provide guidance on the work sessions and actions of the organization at the conclusion of the Citizen Consultation process.
