Among the thousands of publications that provoked interactions related only to the X National Population and Housing Censuswhich is executed by the Government via the National Statistical Office (ONE), the Haitian issue has been one of the topics that has generated the most debates in the Cyberspace in the Dominican Republic.
So lets see the analysis made with tools Social Media Analyticswhich also revealed that the bot (fake accounts on social networks), increased in the last week prior to the start date of the censuswith the specific purpose of positively promoting the execution of the lifting of the datawhich began the ONE throughout the national territory last Thursday the 10th and will run until the 23rd of November.
“This week the census has generated a high level of socialization and the Haitian issue is part of it”he told this newspaper Pavel De Camps Vargasexpert in digital reputation analysis, crisis management and social networks.
De Camps, who is also a communicator and IT manager, stressed that the publications regarding Haiti and the Haitians generated more negative sentiment than those typical of the census: 96.3% against 74.1%.
“The negative feeling it manifests itself in 28 of 32 provinces. Even the non-binary gender manifests itself negatively with the issue of the census”, indicated the expert.

De Camps pointed out that the false accounts used to promote the census on social networks correspond to women (100%) with the hastag participate in the census.
“Those are the accounts that are being used to support the issues of Government. That is to say, what they want to talk about in this type of account is positively about the actions of the Government, which are being managed by the current Government itself to position their issues in favor of the things they want to highlight,” the expert assured.
- The enumerators of the ONE visited the president’s residence around 8:30 in the morning of last Thursday to carry out the process that consisted of a questionnaire of 67 questions divided into six sections.
Despite these data, different sectors of society have been in favor of carrying out the census, and argue that the collection of data at the national level will help to apply better public policies for the country.
It is expected that in 14 days, more than 35,000 enumerators will complete the registration ofl least 9.3 million peoplewhich is estimated to comprise the Dominican population; 4.6 million women and another 4.7 million men.
