The Children’s and Youth Theater Workshop “María Elena Sachero” of the Municipal Institute of Art (IMA) presents the play “Grandpa’s coin and much more…”, this Tuesday, November 8, in two performances, at 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. :30, at the Agustín Pío Barrios Theater of the Japanese Paraguayan Center (Julio Correa and Domingo Portillo). Tickets cost Gs. 30,000.
“Grandpa’s Coin” is a musical comedy written by the Paraguayan writer and playwright Luis Hernáez. The plot of this play revolves around human values.
“The action takes place in a middle-class neighborhood, where the grandfather, owner of a modest kiosk, participates; Doña Martina, a bad-tempered neighbor; the milk deliverer; and another neighbor, Doña Rosita, with a sweet character, who lives with her son José de Ella. The conflict arises when the milkman accidentally loses a gold coin, which was found and hidden by doña Martina.
The characters represent values such as kindness, truth and friendship, contrasted with the negative values of Doña Martina, who in the end changes radically. The work is aimed not only at children, but at the family in general, given its educational and cultural nature.
The cast of “Grandpa’s coin” is made up of Thiago Meza, Bruno Galeano, María Paz Córdoba, Laura Aguiar, Araceli Díaz, Yuliana Alfonso and Valentino Mora.
The work is part of the annual closing of this space that calls for boys, girls and young people from 10 to 17 years old.
The staging of “The Circus” will also go on stage, which summons characters such as presenters, twin dancers, the Magician, the assistant, the acrobats, the tamer, the lion, the tiger, the bear, the actresses, the mimes, the clowns , the influencers, the comedians and the Cuban girls.
The cast includes Sol López, Belén Rolón, Fiorella Benítez, Helena Herrera, Luana Doldán, Abigail Arca, Luis Gaona, Valentina Godoy, Chiara Bernal, Mía Vázquez, Irina Vargas, Angela Alsina, Rodney López, Sebastían Escobar, Franchesca Bobadilla, Lizette Zarate , Paz Olivera, Milena Espínola, Victoria Guillén, Sofía Irala and Megan Coronel.

The direction of “Grandpa’s coin” corresponds to professor Shirley Quesnel, while the direction of “The circus” is Jorge Espínola and Aldo Valdez, director and teachers, respectively, of the Children and Youth Theater Workshop “María Elena Sachero”.
