This Friday the “VIP Takeover” was evicted in Caleta Lagarto, in the Antofagasta region, which was headed by the Seremi of National Assets, Angelique Araya, to recover the fiscal land.

This vacancy was after five notifications and three inspections of the place, before this the Presidential Delegate, Karen Behrens ordered the eviction.

The land had an illegal occupation of more than 600.00 m2 and a built area of 1,600 m2, which is outside the urban limits of the Antofagasta and Mejillones districts.

It was in the last inspection of the cove, on August 22, that approximately 90 perimeter closures were found, of which 30 had constructions inside and chalked, cabins with summer characteristics and a dome.

On this, the Minister of National Assets, Javiera Toro, stressed that from the Government “we are going to act with great decision, the land that belongs to all Chileans has to be at the service of the different social needs, and cannot be used individually for their own privileges”.

In addition, he referred to the housing crisis in the country and the actions that have been taken by the State, indicating that “there is the Housing Emergency Plan, there is the MINVU camp policy, there is the Ministry of National Assets since day one to make public land available for social housing policy. That is why it is so outrageous that while we are making these efforts, from different institutions, there are people who take advantage”.

From the Presidential Delegation they indicated that the recovery works of the fiscal land will last throughout the day due to its extension and will continue during the weekend, since in addition to the collapse of the houses, rubble must be collected and the demarcations of lots.
