Mario Abdo Benítez’s candidate, Carlos Arregui, registered yesterday as a candidate for the State Attorney General’s Office. The deadline to participate extends until this Monday, November 14.
The Judicial Council will receive up to 23:59 this Monday to the applicants to preside over the State Attorney General’s Officewhich is currently headed by Sandra Quiñónez, whose mandate expires in March 2023.
Rodrigo Estigarribia, Blas Daniel Bernal, Federico Derlis Espinoza, current deputy prosecutor, Juan Pablo Rolón (assistant prosecutor), Julio César Godoy, Alfredo Barrios Jara, Won Suk Choi and Carlos Arregui are some of the registered so far.
Two who have not signed up yet, but could do so on Monday, since they have expressed interest, are Monica Seifart and Cecilia Perez, both close to President Mario Abdo Benítez.
Another close is Carlos Arregui, who was the last to sign up this week, although at the beginning of the process he had said he would not.

The Deputy Minister of Taxation Óscar Orué also expressed its intention to participate in this process, however, at all times he remained very hesitant and rather attached to the SET, so he did not appear either.

REGISTRATION DETAILS
Registration is done in person at the new headquarters of the Council of the Judiciary, on Tacuary Street No. 1,597, corner of Blas Garay (Fourth Projected), from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00.
The documents must be presented in physical format duly numbered and in accordance with the order established in article 10. The requirements are:
nationality and age: by means of the birth certificate and civil identity card, the presentation of the digital certificate issued by the Single Government portal, in authenticated copies or the same originals, will be valid.
University law degree: granted by a Paraguayan or foreign higher education institution duly legalized or apostilled, recognized and approved, with the corresponding registration made by the Ministry of Education and Sciences in accordance with the laws of the Republic;
Notorious Honorability: Exclusionary requirement, required by article 33 of Law No. 296/94;
Professional experience: at least five years, effectively, in three possible professional areas: the practice of law, the exercise of the university chair in legal matters or the exercise of the judiciary.
This requirement will be fulfilled with any of the three activities, carried out jointly, separately or successively, for a minimum period of five years in accordance with the provisions of article 267 of the Constitution of the Republic of Paraguay.
For the purposes of computing the minimum five years of professional experience required, the applicant must complete it independently in any of the activities described above.
Seniority in the practice of law: by means of the date of issuance of the license plate that enables the exercise of the profession, issued by the Supreme Court of Justice.
The judicial magistracy: by means of the decree or resolution of appointment, computed from the date of the oath.
The exercise of the university chair in legal matters: by means of a copy of the resolution, proof issued by the Institution of Higher Education (Rector or Dean) or contract that proves seniority.
