After the surprise resignation of Hernando Jose Gomez to presidency of Asobancaria and from some information that was made public about the reasons for this decision, the organization explained what happened.

According to Asobancaria, its board of directors received a harassment complaint made by an official of the union against Gómez, which was investigated internally.
That inquiry included: “Guarantee the accompaniment and safe space of the official, listen to the parties involved, follow due process and strictly comply with the legal norms and corporate ethical principles contemplated in the Convention of Belem Do Pará, which establishes the postulates to prevent violence against the woman“.

On November 10, an extraordinary meeting was convened and it was decided to unanimously accept the resignation presented by Hernando José Gómez, “with immediate effects and valuing their work in the last two years“.
Furthermore, Asobancaria said, the situation was brought to the attention of the competent authorities.

On an interim basis and while it is being carried out the process of searching for a new president, which will be in charge of a specialized firm, Alejandro Vera, current technical vice president of Asobancaria, was appointed as temporary president.
