Cuban Leuris Pupo, double Olympic medalist, and his teammates Jorge Félix Álvarez and Alejandro Delgado, will debut today in the 25-meter (m) rapid-fire pistol at the Pan American Shooting Championship, which will conclude in Peru on the 13th. .
Champion at the London 2012 event and winner of the silver medal at Tokyo 2020, Pupo will lead the Cuban shooters in search of good results in the qualifying phase in order to be included among the eight finalists.
This modality is made up of two stages in which the shooters make three series of shots in each one.
Pupo and Álvarez come to this competition after having participated in the World Shooting Sport in Cairo, Egypt.
In that contest, Pupo finished in 16th place by accumulating 580 points in the qualifying round, in which he added 288 units (97-98-93) on the second day and was four points behind the eighth place in the final.
So far in the Pan American Shooting, the Cubans have won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals, in addition to eight tickets to the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023.
