Police arrested a man and seized almost 400 doses of cocaine and a firearm as a result of a chase that took place in the country’s capital.
The incident occurred during a routine patrol by the Highway Police in the accesses to Montevideo. The agents identified a car and when trying to stop it, its driver fled, thus causing a chase.
The escape attempt was frustrated at the intersection of Rondeau and Paraguay streets, when the driver lost control of the car and collided with a police car from the side. The driver and a woman who came as a companion got out of the vehicle. Police managed to arrest the man, while the woman managed to escape and is currently required.

At the time of the arrest, the man pulled out a firearm and one of the policemen fired intimidating shots. Finally, the man gave himself up in Rondeau and Paraguay.
At the time of his capture, the subject gave a false name that corresponded to a person without a record. However, the fingerprint record confirmed that it was Robinson Reyes, 25 years old, with a record of robbery and possession of a game weapon, as well as two pending indictments.
When examining the vehicle, the Police found 398 cocaine wrappers, two balls with the same substance, a marijuana wrapper, a 9mm pistol and 1,600 pesos.
On the other hand, Reyes was charged by the Prosecutor’s Office before the 39th Criminal Court, who convicted him. The sentence that was imposed corresponded to the crime of trafficking in prohibited narcotic substances in the form of possession and transport in formal competition with a crime of carrying and possessing a firearm, as well as a crime of taking the identity of another person. The sentence that he must serve corresponds to three years and nine months in prison.
