Guaidó trusts in the preparation of the Unit to win if the presidential elections are advanced

During a tour with supporters in Trujillo, Guaidó urged to help “unify the country” by participating in the primaries called by the Democratic Unitary Platform of Venezuela, in order to elect a unitary candidate to face the presidential elections.

The interim president of Venezuela recognized by some countries of the international community, Juan Guaidó, affirmed that he is not concerned about a possible decision by the National Electoral Council (CNE) to advance the presidential elections that must be held, according to the constitution, in 2024.

For the opposition leader, regardless of the date on which the elections are held, the Democratic Unitary Platform of Venezuela would defeat Chavismo “from end to end.”

«They say out there that if 2024 or before. They go around thrashing about whether they are going to advance the election. They can’t advance anything because they owe it to us, it was stolen. If you want to put that election before, put the date, that we are going to defeat them from end to end with the Unit and in the street », he affirmed during a mobilization in the state of Trujillo reviewed by the National Assembly press.

Guaidó’s certainty about sufficient preparation to win the elections, even if they are brought forward, is called into question, considering that the different opposition factors have not organized a primary process to define the unitary candidate who would face Chavismo in the presidential elections.

It was not until last November 9 that the Unitary Platform presented the members that make up the National Primary Commission, in charge of organizing this process for 2023.

Guaidó referred to this commission and clarified that, in his opinion, the dilemma does not revolve around who the candidate is, but rather “defeating the dictatorship” with an election that Chavismo owed the population for years, since for the National Assembly elected in 2015 with an opposition majority, the 2018 presidential elections were unsuccessful.

“Unity and union, that is the challenge we have. For that we have taken steps and called the primaries, we appointed a commission because we know that it is with you, with the people, not with the G2, G3, G4 or G8, but with the people, being in the streets”, he stressed.

Under this premise, Guaidó urged the people of Trujillo to be part of the process of “unification of the country”, for which he considers that the primaries are necessary.

“For us the important thing, what we are championing today is Unity and those primaries that are going to defeat the dictatorship from end to end over and over again. They are not alone, they count on me », he expressed.
