This November 16 marks the first 100 days of Gustavo Petro as President of Colombia. For this reason, two surveys were published that reveal the approval and evaluation of the president’s management.
According to the Invamer survey, the management of Petro it is approved by 49.7% of the population, while 42.7% disapproves of it.

By comparison, its predecessor, Iván Duque, had an approval rating of 27% four years ago after his first 100 days in office. The Invamer firm survey for the media group formed by Blu Radio, Noticias Caracol and El Espectador asked: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Gustavo Petro is performing in his work as president of Colombia?”, and the result shows a division similar to that of the result of the presidential elections.
Petro, who will celebrate 100 days in the Presidency next Tuesday, won the elections last June with 50.44% of the votes, while his rival in the second round, Rodolfo Hernández, received 47.31%. As for the flagship program of his government, the of “total peace”, 51.2% of those surveyed agree while 44.3% say they are against it.
The tax reform presented by the Government to Congress also divides Colombians in half because 50.8% of those surveyed assured that it will affect them a lot. When evaluating the presidential management, some government proposals, such as the adoption of minors by same-sex couples, or the legalization of the sale of recreational cannabis, showed a high disagreement of 67.1 and 57.1% , respectively.
Against this, the intention of not continuing to explore oil and gas is the worst evaluated proposal, as it is rejected by 54.5% of those surveyedand is followed by the tax on sugary foods and beverages included in the tax reform, with 61.6%.
Regarding Petro’s government team, the survey shows that his closest ministers or collaborators are not well known by Colombians, being the vice president, Francia Márquez, the most popular, with 74.5%, followed far behind by the chancellor, Álvaro Leyva, with 36.7%.

The survey also asked about the reestablishment of relations with Venezuela, a decision approved by 71.4%, while 53.7% agreed with the statement that “Colombia in the future may be in the same situation in which is Venezuela at this moment”.
The National Consulting Center for CM& asked 11 questions to 1,068 citizens about the management of Petro and the main issues that concern Colombians.
The survey, in principle, rrevealed that the image of the left-wing leader for 61% of those surveyed is positive, while for 23% it is negative. Now, as for Vice President Francia Márquez: 63% said they have a positive image and 22% negative
Along with this, on the approval of President Petro’s management during his almost 100 days of government, 62% approve, while 26% do not. Regarding whether they see that the country is on the right or wrong path, 52% consider that it is and 35% consider that it is not.
On the issues that are on the country’s agenda there is an optimistic balance on the part of the citizenry.

For example, compared to the economy, andl 47% are optimistic; in employment, 50%; international relations, 58%; environmental Protection, 67%; ‘total peace’, 53% elimination of hunger, 50 p%; measures to control the cost of living, 46%; fight against corruption, 51%; fighting crime, 48%; health, 56% education, 66% and culture, 64%.
Colombians also responded if they believe that the head of state cares about them, 56% said yes and 29% no. When asked if they want President Gustavo Petro to do well, 83% said yes while 5% said no.
