Authorities from Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina created the “Juntos 2030” Corporation in Santiago, in favor of the joint candidacy for the organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The four countries formalized the “Together 2030” Corporation, which hopes to return the event to South America after Brazil-2014at a press conference at the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile.
In that framework, the sports ministers of each applicant nation reconfirmed their commitment in favor of a “Centenary World Cup”.

On behalf of Paraguay, the Minister of the National Sports Secretariat, Diego Galeano Harrison, was present.in the company of authorities from the Paraguayan Football Association.
The objective is a long-standing desire that began to take shape between Uruguay and Argentina a few years ago. Already in 2017, in the run-up to a match between their teams for South American qualifiers, Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi posed together with numbers on their shirts that made up 2030, giving the initial kick to a campaign that later added Paraguay and Chile.

In mid-June 2021, after presiding over a meeting of representatives of the four countries in Asunción to form a working table, the Vice President of Paraguay, Hugo Velázquez, indicated that the objective is “turn to history and above all, to what football represents for this part of the continent”.
The president of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, emphasized the same thing. “On its 100th anniversary, the World Cup must return to its original home, South America”, tweeted the Paraguayan leader.
THE RIVAL
Spain, Portugal and Ukraine -as a whole- are for now the rival candidate, after launching its application in June 2021. Morocco, which was originally going to join the nations of the Iberian Peninsula, could nominate itself, but has not yet officially done so.

Likewise, The United Kingdom and Ireland abandoned in February 2020 the idea of another joint bid for the 2030 World Cupto focus their attention on Euro 2028.
In October 2021, the Israeli government reported that FIFA President Gianni Infantino launched the idea that Israel could host the 2030 World Cup with other countries in the region led by the United Arab Emirates.
So far, most of the World Cups have taken place in Europe. Before Brazil-2014, the last World Cup played in South America had taken place 36 years earlier, in Argentina-1978.
The World Cup-2026 will be organized by the United States, Mexico and Canada, the first time by three countries jointly.
