The Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations of Congress approved this Friday, November 11, the complaint for the alleged crime of treason against the President of the Republic, peter castle.
The report managed to be approved with 11 votes in favor, 10 against and 0 abstentions.
It is about Constitutional Complaint 219 that proposed to accuse Castillo Terrones by impeachment for alleged violation of the Constitution (articles 32, 54, 110 and 118, in its numerals 1, 2 and 11) for which it is recommended to disqualify him from the exercise public service for five years.
The president is accused of having committed the alleged crime of treason against the country, as an attack on national integrity, typified in article 325 of the Penal Code, which condemns the “that practices an act aimed at subjecting the Republic, in whole or in part, to foreign domination or making a part of it independent”.
According to the document supported by Diego Bazan (Avanza País), in this case the defendant -in his capacity as President of the Republic- made statements that would put at risk the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.
This is the interview granted by Castillo Terrones to the journalist Fernando Del Rinconof the chain Cnn in Spanishon January 24 and 25, in which he was in favor of granting “sea for Bolivia”.
The complaint was filed on February 1 of this year by six citizens, and endorsed by congressmen Norma Yarrow (Avanza País) and José Cueto (Popular Renovation).
In the final report supported by Bazán Calderón, it is specified that these statements were related to a possible consultation with the Peruvian people about Bolivia’s demand for an outlet to the sea.
“I am not telling you that I am going to give you the sea for Bolivia (…) Now we will agree, we will consult the people. For that, the people need to manifest themselves”said the president.
