The Government established a new formula to update the quotas of the prepaid. The new method will be in force for 18 months and will take into account the Average Taxable Remuneration Index for Stable Workers (RIPTE).
In accordance with the provisions of the Executive, the prepaid they will have a maximum limit of 90% of the RIPTE. The change to update the fees for the services of private medicine They will start to apply from next month.
The Government also announced that the increase of 13.8% determined for the prepaid at the end of the year it will be divided into two tranches of 6.9% each, which will be applied in December and January respectively.
According to what was published in the Official Gazette, “This measure will apply both to voluntary affiliates to prepaidas well as those who access the prepaid medicine service through the derivation of contributions from the social work systemas long as they have net income of less than six Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salaries”.
And it provides that “as of January 1, prepaid companies must offer identical coverage plans to the one they currently have without copays, with the inclusion of copays on first and second level benefits, at a price of, at least, 25% less than the plan without copays”.
Additionally, as of February 1 of the next year “monthly increases in the quotas of the Prepaid Medicine Entities are authorized”, in accordance with the aforementioned cap.
In the case of workers in a dependency relationship, who derive contributions to private medical services“the limit of the increase foreseen in article 1 of Decree No. 743/22 will be applicable to the fee that they actually pay for the plan that they have contracted.”
Other measures
The Executive also established:a technical commission will be created headed by the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers in order to follow up on the evolution of this policyevaluate and issue a technical opinion on the feasibility of framing the Prepaid Medicine Entities within the regulated insurance activity”.
The commission will be made up of the Ministry of Health, Economy, Labor, the Superintendence of Health Services and the National Insurance Superintendence.
