sports writing the big leagues announced this Thursday the list of players nominated for the 2022 Major League All-Star team, which includes 41 Latin American players.
These Latino players come from the Dominican Republic (18), Venezuela (8), Cuba (5), Mexico (4), Puerto Rico (4), Aruba (1) and Curaçao (1) and are distributed in the following positions:
RECEPTION:
Venezuelans William Contreras (Braves) and Willson Contreras (Cubs) and Mexicans Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays) and José Treviño (Yankees).
FIRST BASE:
Cuban José Abreu (White Sox), Venezuelan Luis Arraez (Twins) and Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays).
SECOND BASE:
Venezuelans José Altuve (Astros) Andrés Giménez (Guardians) and Gleyber Torres (Yankees).
SHORT STOP:
Dominicans Willy Adames (Brewers) and Jeremy Peña (Astros), Aruban Xander Bogaerts (Red Sox) and Puerto Ricans Carlos Correa (Twins) and Francisco Lindor (Metros).
THIRD BASE:
The Dominicans Rafael Devers (Red Sox), Manny Machado (Padres) and José Ramírez (Guardians) along with Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez (Mariners).

The list includes 116 baseball players (71 position players and 45 pitchers), for which Latinos make up 34.4% of the finalists to be part of the 2022 season team.
The players will be chosen by votes, 50% by the fans and the other 50% is completed by the selection of a panel of experts, according to the rules established by the league for this selection.
The fans and experts who participate in the selection must choose a player in each of the game positions (catcher, first baseman, a second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, designated hitter and three outfielders) and seven pitchers (five starters and two relievers).
Fans will have November 22 as the deadline to select the players they consider should be part of the 2022 MLB baseball season team, which will be announced on December 5.
Those who finish second in their position in the election will be part of the All-Star second team.
