Futsal: Amandinha and Ferrão repeat double as the best in the world

Brazil may not have held the futsal world champion crown since 2012, but the country remains a protagonist in the sport. This Tuesday (18), Amandinha and Ferrão were elected the best players in the world (female and male, respectively) by the Italian site Futsal Planet, a reference in the sport of heavy ball.Futsal: Amandinha and Ferrão repeat double as the best in the world

It is the third year in a row that the duo has completed the poll at the top. The Barcelona (Spain) player has just reached his third achievement, while the former Leoas da Serra-SC ace, recently signed by Torreblanca (Spain), won the award for the eighth consecutive year.

The Futsal Planet award brings together 12 categories, in which the judges choose five out of ten nominees and list them in a ranking, in which the first receives five points, the second takes four, the third wins three, the fourth gets two and the fifth add one point. The athlete with the highest score wins the contest.

In the award for best player, Amandinha took 280 points, against 251 points for the second place, the Spanish Peque, from Burela (Spain). The Portuguese-Cape Verdean Janice Eloisa da Silva, from Benfica (Portugal), was third, with 193 points. The list of nominees had five more Brazilians: Renatinha, from Itacalve (Italy), Taty, from Female-SC, Emily, from Torreblanca, Miúda, from Kick Off (Italy) and Luana, from Taboão Magnus-SP.

In the men’s dispute Ferrão got 311 points, beating the Portuguese Pany and the Italian-Brazilian Babalu, both from Sporting (Portugal), with 260 and 165 points respectively. Two other athletes from Brazil were nominated for the award: Pito, from Inter Movistar (Spain), and Rodrigo, from Magnus Sorocaba-SP.

Brazilian futsal was also at the top in the best goalkeeper election, won by Guitta, from Sporting. The second place went to Higuita, a carioca naturalized Kazakh, who works in Kairat (Kazakhstan). Champion of the National Futsal League (LNF) for Cascavel-PR, André Deko was in sixth position, while Willian Felipe, from Joinville-SC, was ninth.

In the feminine, Brazil had four players nominated for the award for best goalkeeper, won by the Portuguese Ana Catarina Pereira, from Benfica. Ana Sestari, from Montesilvano (Italy), was the best placed Brazilian, in third place. Jozi, from Burela, appeared in fourth, followed by Bianca, from Breganze (Italy). Missi, from Barateiro-SC, was the tenth.

In the vote for best national team coach, Kaká (who led Kazakhstan to last year’s World Cup semi-final) was the Brazilian representative in the men’s team. In the female category, Gabriel Dias, who heads Sweden, was nominated. The two ranked third on their respective lists. Same placement as Ricardinho (Magnus Sorocaba) in the dispute between club technicians. Cristiane Souza, commander of Taboão Magnus, was second among the women’s teams.

Brazil was still remembered in the votes for the best club in the world. In the men’s, Magnus Sorocaba appeared in third, behind Barcelona (second) and Sporting (first), and ahead of Cascavel (fourth). In the female category, Taboão Magnus was also in third place, with Benfica in second and Burela in the lead. Leoas da Serra was the fourth most remembered team on the list.

The Brazilian men’s and women’s teams, however, were not nominated among the best national teams. World champion in 2021, Portugal won the men’s. In the female, the award went to Spain.
