Boca Juniors defeated Colo Colo on Monday 2-0 of Chile in a match for Group A of the summer tournament in the first premiere of the group ‘Xeneize’ that had to go out to win to have opportunities to reach the final of the competition.
With an assist from striker Sebastián Villa, the midfielder Diego Gonzalez He sent a cross shot from outside the area to score the first goal of the match in the 10th minute of the first half, which was played at the Jorge Luis Hirschi UNO stadium in the city of La Plata in the Province of Buenos Aires. The next goal came during the second half after a free kick from Exequiel Zeballos, who tricked the ‘Cacique’ goalkeeper into thinking it was a center and ended up pinned at the near post angle. On the other hand, Colo Colo had a goal disallowed after the lineman signaled offside in one of the few occasions that the Chilean team had to approach the rival goal.
This was the third game of this summer competition in Group A, with friendly characteristics, and it will be completed when Boca hosts Universidad de Chile. The schedule will continue next Tuesday, when Talleres de Córdoba meets Independiente and the last day will close with Talleres and San Lorenzo on Saturday 22 to define the last duel of the group stage, prior to the grand final of this mini-championship.
The historic Summer Tournament was staged in the coastal city of Mar del Plata, however, the northern province of San Juan was considered, although this idea did not prosper and they finally decided that all the matches would be held in La Plata. The winners of both groups will meet on January 25 for the final of the summer tournament.
