UTE will install 23 fast chargers for electric cars: where will they be located

UTE continue with your installation plan chargers for electric vehicles and announced the incorporation of 23 teams in different areas of the country. In this case, they are fast charging. The goal is to have a charging point every 50 kilometers throughout the national territory next year.

The president of UTE, Silvia Emaldi, informed this Wednesday that the devices complete 80% of the battery charge in 20 minutes. The installation plan will begin shortly and will last until the end of the year so that they are already available on national routes at the beginning of the season.

He reported that 11 will be installed in the southern area, four on the coast and eight on the axis of route 5. Three will be installed in Montevideo. Later there will be one in Shangrilá and Canelones, Durazno, Trinidad (Flores), Minas (Lavalleja), Punta del Este and Barra de Maldonado, Paysandú, Fray Bentos and Young (Río Negro), Rivera, La Paloma, Parque Santa Tersa and the capital of Rocha, Salto, San José, Paso de los Toros and the capital of Tacuarembó and Treinta y Tres.

The UTE investment will be around US$500,000. “The plan has the objective of continuing to promote the electric mobilityboth for citizens who are incorporating electric vehicles for use, and for tourists who will be arriving from Argentina and Brazil”, Emaldi told the Presidency portal.

He explained that conventional chargers, not fast-charging, take six hours to complete the charge of the electric car battery. Therefore, the new acquisitions of equipment made by UTE will be fast chargers.

The official objective is to continue with the incorporation of teams and reach 300 in different parts of the country. With that amount there will be a charger every 50 kilometers of the national routes.

The payment mechanism currently enabled is through a recharge card provided by UTE, and which is requested from the public company. On a monthly basis, the entity sends the user a detail of the charges made with his card and an invoice associated with them. Soon it will be possible to pay using electronic payment methods, such as mobile payment applications or credit card.
