The military authorities of Venezuela and Colombia met this Wednesday in the state of Táchira to evaluate strategies that guarantee security on the binational border.
These dialogs to define security actions and border defenseinclude the police agencies of both countries, according to the Press Twitter account of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
“From San Antonio, Táchira state, the first Meeting of Territorial Military and Police Border Commanders between Venezuela-Colombia takes place, reaffirming ties of brotherhood and establishing strategies to optimize security and defense of the border,” the message states.
The Minister for Defense, Vladímir Padrino López, and his counterpart from the neighboring country, Iván Velázquez Gómez, participate in the meeting.
The first meeting between López and Velázquez was on September 24, also in San Antonio del Táchira, agreeing to cooperate in security matters.
Then on November 4, Padrino López, expressed that Venezuela was ready to raise the level of cooperation and communication with the Colombian military and police forces.
During a meeting with the Military High Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Padrino stressed the importance of combating drug trafficking and other problems that exist on the border in Colombia and Venezuela.
