The Ministry of the Presidency (Minpre) integrated the Dominican National Brewery (CND) to the Gender Parity Initiative (IPG), a public-private collaboration model that promotes the labor participation of women, their leadership in decision-making and the closing of the wage gap.
Through the signing of a letter of adherence, the CND undertook to cooperate in improving its indicators related to the three areas of action proposed by the IPG, which consists of increasing, as much as possible, the labor participation Women’s.
In addition, promoting their participation in positions of leadership inside of businessas well as reduce the gender pay gap.
Companies in Gender Parity Initiative
To date, the Ministry of the Presidency has adhered to 50 private businesses to the initiative and has the support of more than 20 public organizations to reduce the barriers that prevent women from having equal access to employment, business and leadership opportunities in general.
During the signing ceremony, held at the National Palacethe Vice Minister of Government Monitoring and Coordination, Jose Ramon Holguinthanked the Brewery for joining the initiative, which seeks Dominican Republic be a worthy country with equality of conditions for all.
Holguín explained that parity does not consist of having the same amount of mens Y women in jobs, but that both have equal opportunities in the decision-making process.
“No matter the gender, in the end we are citizens Y citizens. We appreciate that the Brewery is joining this initiative, which is creating a large community of men and women who work to make the country a Dominican Republic worthy of all,” he said.
On his side, Fabian Suárez, president of the CND, pointed out that from the company they are committed to gender parity, for which they have taken steps in this regard at the level of salaries, development opportunities and training and that it is therefore an honor for them to be part of this agreement.
“For us it is an honor to sign this parity and gender agreement together with the Ministry of the Presidencyto guarantee not only that we are a more equitable society, but also a fairer one, with better development opportunities”, he indicated.
He also said that the doors of the Dominican National Brewery they are open to support all initiatives, ideas and programs that guarantee the pillars of equity in the country.
The Gender Parity Initiative, led by the Ministries of the Presidency and of The womanhas the support of international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Economic Forum World (WEF).
The IPG is implemented in seven other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean: Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Argentina, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
