The American technology company Meta, owner of FacebookWhatsApp and Instagram, plans to lay off some 11,000 workers, 13% of its workforce, according to a statement published on its website and signed by the same mark zuckerberg.
With these cuts, according to the head of Meta, they intend to achieve a more agile, efficient company and respond to the changes that have occurred in the economic and business environment.
Likewise, CEO Mark Zuckerberg called the cuts “some of the hardest changes we’ve ever made in Meta’s history.”

He also attributed the layoffs to a slowing economy, increased competition and declining advertising revenue, though he took full responsibility for the situation.
The cuts, according to The Wall Street Journal, are the first broad reductions in personnel in the company’s 18-year history.
