The Eagles continue to rise and draw with the Tigers

The Águilas Cibaeñas achieved their sixth victory in a row by disposing of the Estrellas Orientales 5-2, during a match held at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís.

The victory allows the Eagles to climb back to the top of the championship with the Tigres del Licey, who lost last night against the Toros del Este. The Blues, who have one less win than the Yellows, remain in first place despite a 13-5 record against 14-6. Likewise, it was the fifth victory in a row for the yellows over the greens in the current season, which is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Tomás Troncoso as an option for the Banreservas Cup. The team with the green banner extended its losing streak to five, but despite the score it remains in fourth qualifying position in the tournament.

Tonight both teams meet again for the fifth time in the tournament in a match that is expected to be very emotional. Currently, the particular series favors the team 3-1. The winning pitcher was Onelki García (1-0), who came on as a relief pitcher in the fourth inning to replace starter Joan Adón. The loser was Shaun Anderson (1-3), while Richard Rodríguez recorded his seventh save of the tournament.

Aneury Tavárez, Cade Gotta and Yairo Muñoz were the most outstanding Eagles players, driving in one run each. Meanwhile, for the Stars, Luis Campusano shone with a home run in the fourth inning that gave his team a 2-1 lead at that time.

At the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, Yamaico Navarro drove in two, Rodolfo Castro produced one and Raúl Valdés recovered so that the Toros del Este defeated the Tigres 6-4.

Starter Valdés (1-1, 3.38), scored the win after pitching for six innings, allowing four runs (three earned), five hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Fernando Abad scored his second rescue. The defeat went to Elvin Rodríguez (0-2). The victory puts the Bulls within a game and a half game of the Stars for fourth place.

In San Francisco de Macorís, the Gigantes del Cibao came from behind in the fourth inning to defeat the Leones del Escondido 4-2. With the game 2-0, in favor of the Lions, the Giants made a four-run rally in the fourth, three of them led by a home run with two runners aboard Wladimir Balentien.

Enrique Burgos (1-0) was the winning pitcher as he showed up in a two-strikeout 1.1 act. The save was scored by Michael Ynoa (1), shooting the ninth blank. The setback was for Iván Nova (0-3).
