In the context of the XXVII Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduroholds this Tuesday bilateral meetings with Barbados and South Africa, aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship with these nations.
President Maduro and the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, reviewed the progress of the binational alliance in Sharm El Sheikh, reported a note from Presidential Press.
With this meeting, Venezuela reiterates its purpose of continuing to deepen the relationship with Barbados, built on cooperation and mutual benefit.
The presidents also took the opportunity to put on the table the contributions that together they can make concrete for tackle the climate crisis, topic that brings them together at COP27.
“Pleased to be able to speak with Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, with whom I agree on the need to protect our ecosystemhuman life as a fundamental principle for the continuity of the world as we know it”, President Maduro published about this meeting on his account on the social network Twitter.
Venezuela and South Africa ratify common visions
Similarly, this Tuesday they hold a bilateral meeting in Sharm El Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, the leaders of Venezuela and South Africa, Nicolás Maduro and Cyril Ramaphosa.
Meeting in the context of COP27, the presidents ratify their common visions, in order to face the climate crisis, and review in that sense the work in strategic areas, reported Presidential Press.
The note states that, since they established diplomatic relations in 1993, Venezuela and South Africa have signed various cooperation instruments in the political, commercial, energy, oil, gas and mining areas, among other areas.
Bilateral relations have been characterized by maintaining solid economic cooperation based on agreements signed at the Venezuela-South Africa Business Forum held in 2020, aimed at strategic alliances in the commercial, mining, oil, agricultural and tourism areas.
The parties share collaboration agreements between the South African Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce (Vensa) and the Federation of Chambers and Associations of Artisans, Micro, Small and Medium Industries and Companies of Venezuela (Fedeindustria).
Meanwhile, in recent years, Venezuela and South Africa, in addition to strengthening their economic relations, have deepened their ties of cooperation and solidarity in different international scenarios, including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
