The Health Department of the state of São Paulo confirmed today (8) the existence of two cases of covid-19 caused by the new variant Ômicron (BQ.1.1), in the city of São Paulo.
The new strain was identified by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). According to the secretary, the cases are under epidemiological investigation by municipal and state surveillance.
“The confirmation of variants occurs through genetic sequencing and, so far, there are two cases of the new variant Ômicron (BQ.1.1) in the city of São Paulo”, says the text of the note from the secretary.
According to the folder, hand hygiene with soap and water or with gel alcohol, and vaccination against covid-19 remain crucial to avoid contagion of the disease.
