Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported this Tuesday that due to a mechanical failure detected in the floating bridge on the Ozama River that connects the National District with the Santo Domingo Este municipality, vehicular and pedestrian traffic will remain closed until its repair is achieved.
According to the director of Bridge Maintenance of the MOPC, Romer Francisco Pérez Vargas, the mechanical failure in the floating bridge was located in the winch of the barge’s main spur, which suffered a breakdown that prevented the spur from being raised.
“We apologize to the drivers and passers-by who use this structure to move from the National District to the Santo Domingo Este municipality and vice versa for the inconveniences that its temporary closure could cause,” said Pérez Vargas.
He explained that the MOPC is working on cutting the cable to eliminate the tension and be able to disassemble the part in order to proceed with its repair.
